Steve Bugeja is one of comedy’s most exciting rising stars. Making a name for himself on TV, Steve has appeared on Love Island: Aftersun (ITV2), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), and Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC). He was one of a select few acts at the 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival to perform as part of the Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow (ABC1) and on Comedy Up Late (ABC1). Steve wrote and performed his own sketch 10 Things You Should Know as an Adult for BBC3, has acted in 4Music’s sketch show Pop Sludge, and starred in a viral comedy video for Lucozade alongside England footballer Harry Kane.
In 2017, Steve embarked on a national tour of his Edinburgh Fringe show Summer Camp, including a sold-out night at London’s Leicester Square Theatre. His previous shows Unpronounceable (2016) and Day Release (2015) were both met with critical acclaim, with each going on to sold-out nights at Soho Theatre. After being crowned the BBC New Comedy Award winner in 2013, Steve performed in the Fringe’s longest-running showcase The Comedy Zone and provided tour support for Russell Kane.
A prolific writer, Steve has contributed material for The Russell Howard Hour (Sky1), CelebAbility (ITV2), Mock the Week (BBC2), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), and Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC2). In 2012, he and his writing partner won both the BBC’s Funny on Three sitcom competition, and BBC’S Jesting About 2 sketch competition. On radio, Steve has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Fresh from the Fringe, and featured on the BBC Red Button.
